IMAGES OF 9/11 ARE STAMPED IN OUR MINDS,
and our hearts will forever be proud of our Nation’s first-responders and military veterans for their sacrifices.
Much has been done to show them our appreciation and to support returning military veterans. But a striking gap exists in offering them and others a permanent place where they can go for periodic respite year after year. That’s Northern Life Ranch. The heart of our vision is a vision of the heart: to demonstrate compassion to those who suffer from severe stress or trauma. The Ranch will provide an intentional respite for groups within society who have given deeply of themselves: disabled and wounded veterans, first-responders, pastors and missionaries, and others from local communities such as widows and foster families. Northern Life Ranch will be like no other place in the Country!

Why? How?

As a public charity, Northern Life Ranch will be helping people who face unexpected and intense stress or trauma in their journeys and vocations. As a society it is also important we help them because their stressors are often worsened by further difficulties that affect countless others: strain on family relationships; isolation and loneliness; depression; substance abuse; alcoholism; DUI; divorce; financial struggles; professional burnout; and suicide. Sadly, there are millions of people in these categories in the United States.

The Ranch will serve these people in a compassionate, holistic way, modeled after the selflessness and compassion of Jesus Christ, offering them rest, recuperation, recreation, and respite. To demonstrate our care and appreciation, Northern Life Ranch guests and their families will be invited to stay up to two weeks per year, totally free of charge. And since severe stress and trauma is frequently a lifelong challenge, guests can return year after year.
Where We Will Be
This Ranch will be located near the wonderful Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota. Once at the Ranch, guests will experience the warmth and welcome of carefully trained and professional staff. Thoughtfully designed programs, recreation, and counseling will promote physical, mental, and spiritual healing and renewal for individuals and families alike. The Ranch campus will include a main lodge with dining facilities, a gymnasium with pool and wellness equipment, a recreational therapy facility for adaptive sports, private cabins, a chapel and education facility, a year-round arena for family skating and periodic Paralympic training support activities, a conferencing facility, and exceptional grounds for outdoor recreation and rest. The Ranch will be situated in a rural setting to foster a recuperative and natural environment, away from the stresses of daily life.
